If you’ve visited us in store or online in the past few months, you would have seen the fantastic range of handcrafted natural skincare on our shelves. Made right here in the Barossa, Barossa Body is created by the fabulous Narelle Lane.

We thought it was about time we gave Narelle the chance to share the story behind the Barossa’s newest skincare brand.

WHAT HAVE YOU ENJOYED MOST ABOUT BEING A PART OF MAKERS & MERCHANTS?

I’ve enjoyed being part of an exciting new business in the region. It’s a wonderful community of like-minded makers supporting each other as locals and as small business owners. I’ve really appreciated the support from the Makers & Merchants team who are fantastic at promoting all the makers.

HAS THERE BEEN ANYTHING UNEXPECTED?

I’m amazed by the level of support I’ve received from the Barossa region. This is thanks to the fantastic promotion Makers & Merchants has provided. I think the addition of the ‘workbench’ is a really cool idea. I love that the community can get to know the makers and see what they do in person.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR 2021?

2021 is going to be HUGE for me. I’m working on a new product line and extensions on the current Barossa Body range. And I’m working with new retail outlets in South Australia and interstate. On a personal level, I’m learning more about the intricacies of running a business. I’m keen to take it to the next level and improve the marketing of Barossa Body. I’m also juggling full-time employment, family and volunteer work – so time management is going to have to be a key focus area!!

MAKERS & MERCHANTS PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLABORATIONS BETWEEN OUR MAKERS. WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO COLLABORATE WITH?

Oh, that’s a tough question! There are so many talented makers in Makers & Merchants. I can envisage Sam Cowley from Little Adventurers assisting me with a range in the long-term future!!

WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR MOST POPULAR PRODUCTS?

From a sales perspective, it has been fairly even with the body butters, scrubs and lip balms all going very well. However, a recent poll from Makers & Merchants followers showed that the Barossa Body scrubs are a crowd favourite.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE?

Shelley has such a great vision and is passionate about supporting local makers. I’m looking forward to an exciting year ahead with Makers & Merchants and perhaps even hosting a work bench experience soon.
