But let's go back a bit...Who is Ben Murray?
He makes the wines you want to drink.
There’s not one, but two people behind Ben Murray. Co-owners Dan 'Ben' Eggleton and Craig 'Murray' Thompson are old friends.
They’ve combined forces to launch a wine brand focused on making wines like it should be. And with stunning wines with 90+ points awarded in the 2020 James Halliday Wine Companion 2021...that's not too shabby!
For the first time in the history of wine, Australia’s great wine regions like the Barossa are being nurtured by small-scale producers. Today’s new generation of winemakers like Dan are more entrepreneurial than ever, taking advantage of new technology and modern marketing to create wines that are more authentic and expressive.
These micro producers like Ben Murray Wines are responding to a growing demand for wines that reflect the terroir, or soil type, from which they were made. Most significantly, this new generation is responding to the fact that consumers want more than just another bottle of wine. They want wines that are made with passion, they want wines made with honesty and they want something unique.

Ben Murray Wines' winemaking philosophy is simple: produce quality wine, provide an exceptional customer experience and allow our customers to enjoy our wines at their best. No bullshit.
Tasting Notes:
2021 Rosé | Made from Marananga Grenache from Old Vines, and Pedro Ximenes from Old Vines in Tanunda, managed by winemaker Dan. The grapes are picked on the same day, crushed and pressed together and allowed to have limited skin contact to give that perfect blush. Treated from here like a white wine, this summer favorite is crisp and fresh, little textural, but most of all yummy!
2021 Sapidity | An unusual and new wine for Ben Murray Wines - Sapidity - defined as a pleasant and appetising flavour! When thrown the challenge of making a wine from varietals not entirely within the expected realm of Ben Murray, winemaker Dan went a little left field...and Adriatic! White grapes were treated initially as reds, crushed and sent to an open fermenter. During ferment the juice was pumped over the skins and pressed through the basket press. Fermentation was completed half in tank, and half to oak barrels. Once dry - it was off to bottle! The result : hints of marzipan, orange peel, marmalade, tropical fruits...it's a jumble and it is fun!
2021 EdenValley Riesling | Sourced from the Stephens Family's Wyncroft vineyard, planted in 1930 by their grandfather. Picked at perfect ripeness, this elegant Riesling has been destemmed and basket pressed. It was then fermented cool and slow over 8 weeks. The minerality and perfumed acidity offer excellent shale and lemon pith elements.
