Carol’s relationship with leather and hides goes back three generations. It began with her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth starting her career as a tailor and dressmaker in London. Carol remembers her father teaching her how to braid and plait leather for bridles, halters on their horse stud. When she created her first bag, Carol knew that she wanted to keeping creating with leather.
The uniqueness of each hide with its own personal markings and scars tells a story. Just like our own scars and imperfections form part of our story. Carol seeks to champion the hide’s individual characteristics in every Sunshine Barossa piece.
